Furnishing Dividends?

The Financial Post publishes an article with two picks from value managers Joe Jugovic and Ian Cooke who manage the IA Clarington Canadian Small Cap fund which focuses on small cap companies across all sectors with consistently high financial returns at low valuations.

The two picks? Surprisingly dividend paying companies Leon's Furniture & Transcontinental.

"The market down draft provides investors the opportunity to invest in industry leaders at attractive prices. Clearly the macro environment will provide substantial headwinds for retailers but Leon's is a company with 100 years of history that has been through downturns before and survived them. Going into this downturn, they are better positioned than ever, with over 25% of their market capitalization in cash. They have no debt, own most of their own land and properties and management is deeply committed, with roughly 60% ownership."
